The village of Rocester has a local pub, The Red Lion, just 200m from the property and serves pub lunches every day and evening meals every evening apart from Mondays and Wednesdays. The 'Panacea' Indian restaurant is just a two minute walk away and there is a nearby fish and chip shop also serving pizzas, kebabs and burgers. Rocester has two general convenience stores in the village.
Well worth a visit, is the fabulous Denstone Hall Farm shop which is just a 3 minute drive away. The Farm shop has a restaurant serving lunch, coffees and afternoon teas, as well as offering fresh local produce, fine wines, a bakery, delicatessen and gift shop.
JCB headquarters are a just a five minute walk from the Cottage, there you are able to enjoy the fabulous walk around the lakes which are home to the many different types of birds and other wildlife, there are plenty of benches around the perimeter of the lake and you will usually find the local Ashmore's Ice cream van parked near to the lake.
The thrilling and magical Alton Towers is just a 10 minute drive away and Whittaker Mews will provide you with a peaceful relaxing retreat after an exhilarating day with your friends and family.
Uttoxeter town, and its Racecourse is just a seven minute drive away. The town itself has many pubs and places to eat and a selection of larger supermarkets for your convenience.
A short journey north of Whittaker Mews is the picturesque town of Ashbourne with a great selection of antique and gift shops, plus a variety of pubs, bars and places to eat; Ashbourne is also the gateway to the Peak District National Park, with Dovedale and its famous stepping stones, caves and riverside walks a short drive from the town.
